Promoting and Protecting Animal Welfare & Rights for Human Welfare
The legacies of the eleven year armed conflict which Sierra Leone suffered from were gross animal cruelty to particularly dogs and cats (Starvation, neglect brutal killings, ritual sacrifice, torture etc.). For this reason, Tom Sandi CCA-SL founder and other animal lovers in May 2005 established a community-led animal welfare advocacy/campaign group called Campaign Against Cruelty to Animals in Sierra Leone (CCA-SL).CCA-SL is a non-profit, nongovernmental organisation established in May 2005 and registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs as an Indigenous Voluntary Organisation due to the division of the ministry, on 1st September 2025 registered with the National Investment Board, Sierra Leone (a new registration body) as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee, Company No. SL010925CAMPA26667.We share the views of late Indian Prime Minister Mahatma Gandhi who in one of his great speeches said that “The greatness of a Nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its Animals are treated” in other words sustainable development can only be truly realized when our Animals are treated well. Yes the Animals are our colleague creatures

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
Human rights/welfare issues can only be fully fulfilled when the welfare/rights of animals are respected, protected and promoted.
Animals are partners in development.
Cruelty to animals is inhuman and hence a human rights violations in it self.
Religious equality amongst creatures (Ecclesiastes 3:18-20)
An organization can hardly achieves its objective without collaboration and networking with like minded organizations/individuals.
